Who moved my KING?

So whosoever said that CONTENT is now getting less preference, needs to review the basics again. Unlike other Optimization tags and tricks, content hasn’t faded but just changed the structure and its preferences for the Search Engines.
Now the interlinking navigation and overall linkage of a site through the content is scrutinized very tightly.

  • The Links driven out from content( some may name it Link Building),
  • Keyword in contention, from where the Link has been driven out,
  • Number of links given from a page to the other relevant pages,
  • The density of a keyword in content on a particular page,

…are only some of the parameters that SE’s have their attention glued to!!
Individually each point is huge in itself. So we will pick them up in our future posts!!

Till then… take another step… Walk Ahead!!

What’s In–Anchor??

Let’s define: The text that appears in the communication window when a user moves a cursor over a hyper link is called the Anchor Text. And the concerned tag, Anchor Tag.
No marks for guessing that this tag is also one of the milestones covered under our

“MAKING THE BEST INTERNET SITE!!!”

Did I hear a “How”?? Take a look:
  • Text displayed in the window helps a user to understand better what the link is all about. Most users expect a site to give information regarding the lining page in the anchor text. A step forward in making the site better.
  • Second, with the optimum usage of keywords in the tag, a SE which gives special consideration to your site. Who wouldn’t want that?

It’s very closely related to the “ALT” tag. As Alt is for an image so is the Anchor for the links. So keep walking ahead… just another step!!

XML Sitemaps

In the last post we learnt how a “SITEMAP” can be effective in making a site better. So why another sitemap called XML Site Map? Ok, let’s first define the concept.
WHAT IS IT??
An XML sitemap is the sitemap created in XML with some fixed attributes and pattern. You may change certain fields like frequency, priority, last modified etc. but the chief frames remain pity much the same. Know more; click
XML Sitemaps.
HOW IT HELPS??
It helps the spiders/bots understand the site in a better way; about the basic structure, their interlinking, main pages of the site and their importance. Also, it offers the simplest platform/interface to let a spider know of the main pages that a site has that you want to get indexed. This is where it gets extremely useful.
HOW TO DO IT??
A XML sitemap can be either hard coded in XML (given we have all the URL’s of the website) or we can generate it from the umpteen free generators available on the net (Click here for:
Quick Access). Sites like XML-Site Maps, Sitemaps Pal, and Neurotic Web are a few examples that offer such services in a helpful way.

As always… just a straightforward thing and simple concept, but another step on the march… Walk Ahead!!

Index for your Site

Does your site have an Index? In simpler words, Index for a site may be called a sitemap. What is a Sitemap, How will it help, My site is doing well without it or why do I need a sitemap? If any of these questions is out of your first reflexes, read on…
Let us first understand what a sitemap is. When we pick up a book we refer to the index of the book to locate the topic or area of interest in the book. Appling the same theory to a site, we will realize what a sitemap is and more importantly, how important it is.
Here’s a look at the sitemap:

“IMAGE0001.gif”

Considering from a users point of view, when I need to find a particular point of interest in a site, rather than clicking on various pages and searching from the unknown, I would rather prefer if there’s any fix source for this.
Well no price for guessing what a user will do when he doesn’t finds the desired thing in a click or two. It’s a small world and your neighbor is only a click away!
It’s really simple to incorporate a Sitemap into a site but the benefits it drives are elusive. Another step on the march… Walk Ahead!!

What is it AL(T)L about?

Let’s continue with the “On-Page” factors. We will today throw some light on the importance of Alt Tag.
First, what is this “Alt Tag”? Formally it is the tag in which you can write the text which you want your user to view when he moves the cursor over the image. Trivially, it’s the information attached to the image.
Now, as I have already discussed in my earlier blog “Towards an Educated Site”, this tag formulates from those fundamentals as well.
Towards Best Internet Site: Customer Optimization or just SEO
Consider this, that many users online might not be able to view the Image that your site has for certain reasons (a different browser, slow net or “disabled Images”). So what’s the best that you can do to help them? An obvious reply is aid them with the “ALT” tag.
Now it’s just a practice to keep your site good to your user!! You can use the fitting words in the “Alt tag” so that user not only understand what is image all about but get some info about the site also.
Another step towards the Best Optimized site… Walk ahead!!!
